Brendan Hoyle Named Shorecrest Head of Upper School
Shorecrest Preparatory School is pleased to announce that Brendan Hoyle will join Shorecrest as the next Head of Upper School, effective July 1, 2026. Brendan was selected among a talented pool of candidates for his innovative vision, demonstrated leadership, and alignment with the School's Mission and Core Values.
Brendan is recognized as a visible leader who models professionalism, inspires trust, and strengthens alignment across departments. Currently the Director of Arts & Innovation at Norfolk Collegiate School, Brendan has deep experience leading interdisciplinary programs in the arts, design thinking and technology while remaining actively engaged as a classroom teacher and mentor to faculty. With more than two decades of experience in education, he has a proven track record of developing academic and co-curricular programs, working effectively with colleagues across divisions, and building strong relationships with students and families.
Brendan holds a Master of Education in Independent School Leadership from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. He is an active contributor to national conversations on education, writing for NAIS and Educational Leadership, as well as presenting at regional and national conferences. His early career work in communications and community engagement strengthens his ability to clearly articulate our mission and build authentic connections across the community.
Brendan shared, "Over the course of the search process, I had the chance to spend time with students, families, and faculty, and I discovered a challenging and supportive learning ecosystem sustained by curiosity and genuine engagement. I am eager to help lead an Upper School experience that is intellectually vibrant, deeply authentic, and filled with joy."
