French Club Donates to 5th and 6th graders in Senegal

high school French club bake saleFor a decade, members of Shorecrest Upper School's French Club have happily supported over 500 primary school students by providing them with school supplies. The idea of creating this project came from Sophie Wiltshire '17 in 2016. She encouraged members of the club to sell food and raise money to purchase donations for a school in Senegal. She and her peers (pictured, right) showed empathy, compassion and a sense of purpose - and their legacy has been preserved.

On December 15, 2025, two classes at Excellence Primary School in Senegal received a pack of 10 notebooks and pens for each student - assisting over 100 5th and 6th graders!

"On behalf of the teachers, parents and students, I want to say thank you!” said Shorecrest French Teacher Sidy Ndiaye, who is also the Faculty Sponsor to the club. "Your actions will never be forgotten."

The act of giving provides more happiness than receiving.
