Congratulations to first place winners, senior Jami-lyn Fehr '14 (Performing Arts) and junior Matthew Johnson '15 (Literary Arts). The following seniors were of the top 3 in their categories: Charlie Andelman '14 (Media Arts), Meggie Gardner '14 (Fine Arts) and Evie Sobczak '13 (Science Technology). Prizes included iPad minis and savings bonds.
In addition, an overall School of Excellence was named, and Shorecrest took home the title!
"Shorecrest not only had the most applicants but some of the highest quality of applicants. The time that these instructors and administrators put in working with these students, you see it here on stage." announced event host Shawn Drouin.
Hosted by the St. Petersburg TASCO Teen Program, the two-and-a-half hour event was a heartfelt, show-stopping night of awards, entertainment and positive energy. The Mahaffey Theater audience included students and their families, teachers, mentors and community leaders.
Congratulations to Cheryl Lee, Michael McCarthy and Shorecrest's theatre students for performing a fantastic medley of four numbers from our production of CHICAGO, which opened the show with a bang!
The show energized the audience with local student talents, including senior Jami-lyn singing "Temporary Home" and an original rock song by The Ries Brothers. Jami-Lyn was also part of the grand finale musical group number.
