"I am honored to serve as the upcoming SCA speaker on Thursday, January 25 at 8:15am in the Janet Root Theatre Lobby. As an educational leader, I aspire to help students self-actualize and to educate parents in methods that support children’s beneficial development and well-being. During the past ten years of my twenty-two while working in a school setting, I have seen overparenting grow as a problem.
In 2016 for my doctoral thesis at Nova Southeastern University, I conducted a mixed methods research study designed to evaluate the effects of a parent training program on overparenting behaviors. The SCA presentation will focus on an explanation of the problem, details about the study and findings. I will also include a concise review of the research and popular literature that supported a need to investigate parent training as an intervention to influence the quality of parents’ involvement, provision of support, and effort on behalf of their child."
