Alpha students wrapped up their Community Helpers study with a visit to the St. Petersburg Fire Station. They saw first-hand how firefighters dress for an emergency, explored the big fire truck, and toured the station. They experienced some of the sights and sounds that the first responders see and hear, and watched with excitement as the firefighters slid down the firepole!

For their next unit, Alpha students will explore methods of transportation. Using snack as an extension of this learning, students created a traffic light from celery, cream cheese and Skittles, and also made apple ‘cars’ with grape ‘wheels’.
