Junior Kindergarteners had a literacy challenge this week. Students used a spoon to capture ping pong balls marked with lowercase letters that were floating in water. They then carried each ball carefully balanced on the spoon across the room to match them to their corresponding uppercase letter. This task developed coordination, balance and perseverance, as well as letter recognition.
Learning is all in a day’s fun in Junior Kindergarten! This week included an experiment to see how an octopus uses its ink for camouflage, creating and documenting original patterns, and sequencing upper or lower case letters. The students are developing a love of learning because it is fun.
