The Alpha classes visited The St. Petersburg Master Fire Station this week as part of their Community Helpers and People In Your Neighborhood Project. These wonderful firefighters gave the children the tour of a lifetime! There were three calls for help during our visit and some firefighters were off to help as others came in without missing a beat to continue our tour.
The children went through the living quarters, rang the giant old bell, climbed through the hook and ladder truck, and watched as one of the firefighters donned all of the heavy protective equipment they wear for a "run." Our friends from B shift slid down the pole, made it snow for the children with the fire extinguisher, and gave the children their own special fire chief hats to take home. Look at the smiles on every face as the Busy Bees and Mrs. Carson and Ms. Trayer posed with those fabulous firefighting friends!
