The Alpha classes had such a wonderful field experience at the Sustainable Family Farm in Pinellas Park. The children visited the urban farm as part of their food and garden study. They were able to see all sorts of fruits and vegetables growing, learn about composting, taste delicious plants, watch and dramatize how sugarcane is pressed and see a working beehive up close.
Visiting the farm also connected Alpha with the greater Shorecrest community. Urban Farmers Erick Smith (Co-Founder of The Foundation for Sustainable Families and Shorecrest parent) and Robin Wiltshire (alumni parent) led our tour, and students admired murals (pictured) painted by Alumni Elliott Darrow '16 and Madison Holt '16.
