Head of School Letter: A New School Year!
The school year has started off with so much excitement from returning families and from our new ones. We are delighted to welcome 164 new Chargers, including 31 new sibling students and 4 new children of alumni, to our community this school year. In addition to our new students, 90% of students returned for the 2025-2026 school year to continue their Shorecrest educational journey. From our brand new Alphas to senior Lifers - we are so glad you're here!
Our new students are entering into all grades and school divisions, coming from all over Florida, the United States, and the world! Along with new students from the Tampa Bay Area, families have moved to St. Pete from six other states including Connecticut, Hawaii, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, as well as Washington, D.C. We are also pleased to welcome families from Norway, South Korea and Switzerland this year.
In our small classes and close-knit community, we have the unique opportunity to get to know each student as an individual. We use a spark of curiosity or a flicker of effort as the foundation for growth. Our goal is to have students discover abilities they never knew existed and build on the talents they already have, to challenge, nurture and support each child. At Shorecrest, we make a collective effort to see the good and build the strength in each student.
We believe that the relationships developed here are the essence of the Shorecrest experience - for students and for families. Our Shorecrest Community Association (SCA), our parents' association, works hard to build connections and create community across the school and we invite you to find your place this year! From parent socials like next month's SCA Soiree to family friendly events like the Electric Fall Festival in November, our SCA volunteers are hard at work creating opportunities for us to come together to build a community that enriches us all.
Wherever you are on your Shorecrest journey, here's to a wonderful school year!
All the best,
Nancy
