Community Sponsor Spotlight: SPOCS Orthodontics
After recently moving his family from the Hudson Valley to St. Petersburg, orthodontist Dr. Ahmed Mansour quickly realized that Shorecrest would be an integral part of their new life. Son, Yousef ’27 and daughter, Maya ’28 both started at the School in ninth grade.
“I am from Egypt and my wife [pediatric rheumatologist Lilly Barillas-Arias] is from Costa Rica, and we both went to really good private schools in our home countries, where the curriculum was nothing like what my kids are getting at Shorecrest,” he says. “It’s the best school in the area, hands down. We love that the School makes Yousef and Maya work hard, and they love it. They’ve done very well. Their group of friends is amazing – very smart and like-minded. And now all of our friends are Shorecrest parents.”
Sponsorship has been a perfect way to become integrated into the Shorecrest community while familiarizing parents and others with SPOCS’s offerings in state-of-the-art orthodontic care.
“I have a brand new business, and I definitely wanted to get the word out about that,” says Ahmed. “I’m a New York-trained orthodontist and I bring expertise that I want to share.” He just opened the practice in St. Petersburg in November 2025, where he is one of the few Elite Providers of Invisalign in the region and the creator of SPOCS Orthodontics Aligners, developed in his own in-house lab.
The company was the Photobooth Sponsor for this year’s Shore to Shorecrest 5K Walk/Run and the inaugural Electric Fall Festival, where they had a table with face painting and fun activities prizes along with informational materials about orthodontics for children as well as adults. In addition to supporting community events, SPOCS Orthodontics also sponsored co-curricular programs, supporting both LEGO and VEX Robotics, as well as the new Chargers Spirit Halftime Competition during athletic events.
“Supporting the School is important,” says Ahmed. “There are so many hands in everything that happens there – so many teachers, so many volunteers – and I definitely applaud them for everything they do. Giving all of them the help they need is part of being at Shorecrest. We love the School. It’s a very special place.”
