Community Sponsor Spotlight: Bayway Dental
Denise and Dr. David Sherberg, owners of Bayway Dental, are reentering the Shorecrest community thanks to the aspirations of their son, Auden ’33. He was a student in The Experiential School in Alpha and Junior Kindergarten, and returned to Shorecrest as a fifth grade student in Middle School this school year.
“He’s very interested in the performing arts, and that’s a big draw for him. He was also looking for more of an academic challenge.” Rejoining Shorecrest has been a positive experience for the family, says Denise. “It’s been very welcoming, with many familiar faces. Auden is very happy and is looking forward to sixth grade and getting involved in Jr. Thespians. He’s embraced the demand of being organized, and we’ve seen him become more efficient in planning and balancing his schoolwork and his afterschool activities.”
The Sherbergs created Bayway Dental after identifying a need in St. Petersburg for a concierge-level, boutique dental practice where patients with complex dental issues could access care from one dentist rather than visiting different offices. They have many patients over 55, and offer an in-house dental plan geared for people without insurance. They also cater to people who are afraid of the dentist by offering several types of sedation and access to the comfort of Mare, their therapy dog.
Bayway Dental was the Presenting Sponsor for this year’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day. “We are located and are very popular in the southern side of the city, and that was a nice way to get the word out to people on the north side,” says David.” In addition to benefitting their business, the Sherberg’s sponsorship is a strong vote of confidence in the School their son has chosen. “He’s the driver,” says David, “and we’re there to facilitate what he wants.”
“Shorecrest is a very unique private school, and for a child like Auden, it’s the perfect place,” says Denise. “We want to support and grow the place where he will thrive.”
