Fond Farewells

Faculty Spotlight Upper School News

Please join us in sending our warmest wishes and a fond farewell to our retiring and long-tenured colleagues moving on from Shorecrest:

Bob Folwell, Lower School PE Coach

Bob Folwell joined the Shorecrest community in summer 2018, beginning his work in the Experiential School before transitioning to the Lower School P.E. team in 2020. Over the past several years, Bob has made a meaningful impact on the students he teaches and coaches. Known for his upbeat personality, steady encouragement and well-timed “dad jokes,” Bob brings warmth and joy to his classes, whether students are headed to the Rec Gym, track or P.E. field.

More than anything, Bob cares deeply about children and about his work as an educator. His goal has always been to inspire students to try their best, learn from each experience and approach challenges with confidence.

The 2025-2026 school year marks the culmination of Bob's 43-year career in education. In retirement, he looks forward to spending more time with his wife, Terry, his children and grandchildren as his family relocates to New Mexico. Please join us in thanking Bob for his years of service to Shorecrest.

Sidy Ndiaye, Upper School Foreign Language Teacher

Sidy Ndiaye joined the Shorecrest Upper School faculty in 2016, bringing with him a global perspective, deep experience in language education, and a lifelong passion for teaching. A native of Senegal, Sidy previously taught French and English as second languages to middle and upper school students, and also taught French to American students through the Global Citizen Year program.

At Shorecrest, Sidy taught French and served as sponsor of the French Club. Fluent in Wolof, French, English and Spanish, he has shared not only language instruction, but also meaningful cultural exchange with his students.

Reflecting on his time at Shorecrest, Sidy shared, “Shorecrest has been my second family… You have made me a better person. You will always have a special place in my heart.”

Please join us in celebrating Sidy’s retirement and thanking him for his decade of dedication to Shorecrest students.

Christine Oman, Second Grade Teacher

Longtime Lower School teacher Christine Oman is retiring from the classroom after more than 15 remarkable years at Shorecrest. Throughout her tenure at Shorecrest, Christine has shaped young minds across kindergarten, first, second, and fourth grades with humor, grace and expertise.

According to the Head of Lower School Dr. Lisa Bianco, "Mrs. Oman is one of the finest educators I have had the privilege to work with, leaving an indelible mark on our community. We are profoundly grateful for her dedication to her students, their families, and her colleagues. My hope is that her next calling is in guiding and coaching educators."

Christine Oman came to Shorecrest in 2012 as a first grade teacher. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and with a Master of Education from Georgia State University. The Omans have two children who are now Shorecrest alumni, Adelaide '24 and Cole '26. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Oman on the close of an incredible career in teaching

Erich Schneider, Head of Upper School

With sincere gratitude for his two decades of service, Shorecrest recognizes Erich Schneider as he concludes his tenure as Head of Upper School at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.

Since joining Shorecrest in 2005, Erich has served the Upper School in many roles, including Chemistry Teacher, Science Department Chair, Senior Class Sponsor, Academic Dean, Interim Head of Upper School and Head of Upper School. His leadership has been marked by steadiness, care and a deep commitment to students, colleagues and families.

Under his leadership, the Upper School created its grade-level dean structure, expanded the College Counseling Office, deepened collaboration with the Middle School and recalibrated College Prep grading to better reflect the rigor of Shorecrest coursework.

Shorecrest has been a family affair for the Schneiders. His wife, Meghan, is the Senior Associate Director of College Counseling, and their children - Annie '15, Lily '19, and Dexter '23 - are all Chargers. Please join us in thanking Erich for his lasting contributions to Shorecrest.
