Mock Model UN Debate

This week, Mr. Heller’s Freshmen classes engaged in the 2nd annual Mock Model UN debate. Following the rubric set forth by the actual MUN, students picked their country by spinning a classroom globe and researched the issues of climate change, human trafficking and peace and security issues.
After individual introductions highlighting the history of their respective countries, students broke into groups to utilize diplomacy in an effort to reach consensus on these real world problems. Many different countries from as small as Tonga to as big as the Russian Federation were represented. The hope is that if students enjoyed this project, they will consider signing up with Mr. Wahlgren and myself to attend an actual conference next year.
