Varsity Football Beats Canterbury Fort Myers, 9/7

The Varsity Football Chargers went 2-0 Friday night, September 7, with a convincing 34-14 home victory over Canterbury Fort Myers. The Chargers spotted Canterbury an early touchdown in the 1st quarter, but came alive scoring in all 3 phases of the game: 3 offensive TD's, 1 Defensive TD and a Punt Return for a TD.

The team racked up 206 rushing yards with RJ Ayers '19 leading the way with 12 carries for 96 yards. Cole Persinger '19 had a big day scoring a pair of touchdowns for the Chargers, one on a punt return and another on a rushing TD. Leading the way on defense were Defensive Ends Ethan Forsyth '19 and Ashton Reynolds '19, both racking up 7 tackles and 2 Quarterback Sacks apiece.

Jake Freedman '19 had a busy day grinding out 14 carries for 54 yards while adding a 15 yard interception return for a TD from his outside Linebacker position. Max Stover '21 ran for a TD and threw for another in the victory.
