Shorecrest School

Catching up with JV and Varsity Volleyball

Upper School News

Varsity Volleyball
Chargers 3, St. Pete Catholic 0

The team played really loose and didn’t have any trouble with this match. There was 100% player participation with everyone contributing and conquering points.

Chargers 3, Tampa Prep 1
Shorecrest started almost flawlessly on game 1 giving no chance to Tampa Prep to score. In the second game, the team lost concentration and made mistakes that led to a huge advantage to Tampa Prep. Game 3 was the most exciting one, and we finished a tight game with an atypical play. Our big outside hitter, Jac St Cin, playing the setter position and our setter playing outside which earned us the final point with a big block by St Cin. The girls were relaxed in Game 4 and the Chargers played with confidence and played ahead most of the time. Big defensive plays by Annabelle and blocking by Chaise.

Coach Raquel Ferreira complimented the team saying, "10 out of 11 players entered the game showing again the power of the team and how they are all in this together, making big plays and being there for each other. This was a big win and I am proud of the team!"

Chargers 3, St. Pete Catholic 0
Chargers 1, Tampa Prep 2

A dramatic and tight match from beginning to end!  The girls lost 1-2 on the very final point of the tie breaker. The Chargers played really well – they just got a little nervous at the end and made too many mistakes. Our libero Kate showed some really big moves that made even officials come and complement the seventh grader's poise and court awareness.

Coach Ferreira said, "Our Sophomores definitely showed up to lead the team. It was a close match and could have gone both ways. I'm proud of our JV team for working together and getting better every day!"

Coming up: Both teams play at home on Tuesday, October 2 vs. Seffner. Come support these girls and their hard work!
