After-school intramural activities allow students to get familiar with various sports and games, connect with other students, and stay healthy. Intramurals also create a sense of belonging to the school community and develops connections with teachers and peers outside the classroom. We are excited to launch Intramurals this fall!
Our Intramural Program will include competitions in various sports, clubs, open gym time, instructional and practice opportunities. It is designed to provide students with age-appropriate opportunities for exploration and enrichment through the introduction to sports and other activities with an emphasis on participation and enjoyment.
Goals of the Intramural Program:
- Activities which teach the values of cooperation and teamwork
- Opportunities to enhance self-concept and development as an individual
- Opportunities to develop school pride
- Opportunities to develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially
- Self-discipline and good sportsmanship through athletic participation
- Strive for personal best, make commitments, set goals, and follow through with responsibilities
- Prepare students for higher level of play

Intramural FAQ
Q. What grades can participate in Intramural Programs?
Intramural Programs are for students in 4th-12th grades. For students younger than 4th grade there are a number of after-school sports clubs including soccer and Lil Sparks cheerleading. Those programs operate through the after-school program.
Q. Who are the coaches of the Intramural Programs?
Intramurals are offered by the coaches of the Shorecrest JV and Varsity teams or other Charger Athletics staff members. For example, 4th-5th Grade Intramural Soccer is coached by Neal Wolfrath, the Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach. Open gym times will be coached by Jeff Raab, Director of Intramural Programs.
Q. Is there a fee for Intramural Programs?
Open gym times are offered free of charge. All other intramurals require a small fee, which is billed through the after-school program. Prices and schedules vary by sport.
Q. Can I play on a Middle School/JV/Varsity team and still play intramurals?
Yes! Intramurals are a great way for athletes to learn a new sport and to stay in shape during the off-season. For younger children, intramurals help prepare them to play on the Middle School, JV, and Varsity Charger teams.
