

Seventh Grade Shares Health Information

On Wednesday, May 8, a group of seventh grade students spent their afternoon interacting with the senior residents of the Sunshine Center in what was the culminating activity of a month-long study of disease and illness focused on prevention or awareness.

- Kaja D. and Sonoma K. explained how Alzheimer's affects the brain and asked the seniors if they wanted to sign up for a Shorecrest student pen-pal, while Adelaide O. and Keira H. provided games and books that could help slow the progress of the disease.
- Avery R. and Nate E. created an interactive game with questions about Hepatitis A.
- Alanis J. and Jenna H. provided a smoothie beverage as part of their project on Diabetes.
- Natalie C. and Sydney D. reminded the seniors of the ways in which they could be heart healthy including providing green tea.
- Sofi R. had the seniors try on glasses coated with nail polish that allowed the residents to experience looking through the eyes of a person suffering from cataracts.
