Shorecrest Senior heads to United States Naval Academy

Upper School News

Reagan Quilty ‘19 was accepted to the Naval Academy Preparatory School in advance of her appointment to the United States Naval Academy. U.S. Naval Academy representative and Shorecrest alumni parent Steve Coppins recognized Reagan during a recent Upper School assembly. The mission of the Naval Academy Preparatory School is to enhance midshipman candidates' moral, mental, and physical foundations to prepare them for success at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Mr. Coppins commented, “Reagan is an ideal candidate for the Naval Academy. She demonstrates commitment, intelligence, maturity and physical fitness. Acceptance is extremely selective and appointees must possess leadership skills, dedication to community service and   a strong character.” Reagan is the Secretary of Shorecrest’s Student Council, an All American Triathlete, a member of the Global Scholars Initiative, and a member of the Charger track and swim teams. Reagan recently competed in the State Championship track and field meet as part of the 4x100 relay team.

The Naval Academy is a family affair - with Reagan’s parents, Christopher and Karen, and brother Zachary all having attended the prestigious service academy. Every year the family participates in the Tampa Bay Frogman Swim, a 3.1 mile swim across Tampa Bay to raise funds for the Navy Seal Foundation.
