Khana Rebman '05 Named Director of Diversity & Inclusion at Shorecrest
Shorecrest is pleased to announce that Khana Riley Rebman '05 has been named the School's next Director of Diversity & Inclusion, starting July 1, 2026. Mrs. Rebman, a Class of 2005 Shorecrest alumna and faculty member since 2015, has been serving as Interim Co-Director of Diversity & Inclusion since July 2025.
The Director of Diversity & Inclusion role, established in 2017, works to enhance a culture where every community member feels valued and respected. With the support of division Diversity Coordinators, Mrs. Rebman will lead the planning and implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives for students, families, and faculty. As a member of the School’s leadership team Mrs. Rebman will support the recruitment and retention of families from diverse backgrounds, partner with faculty for curriculum planning, and serve as a school liaison to the greater Tampa Bay Area community.
"We are beyond proud to have Khana move into this leadership role at Shorecrest," said Head of School Nancy Spencer. "As a classroom teacher she is known for making each student feel valued and supported, and for building strong relationships across the School. We are excited to see her share those same qualities schoolwide through her new role."
After beginning her career in Pinellas County Schools, Mrs. Rebman returned to her alma mater in 2015 as a third grade classroom teacher. Deeply committed to the life of the School, she has shared her skills beyond the classroom for the past decade; Khana was a member of the 2023 Strategic Planning Committee, supported the School's Centennial celebrations, and served as the Lower School Diversity Coordinator. Mrs. Rebman earned her SEED certification in 2024 and is a frequent conference attendee and presenter around topics of diversity, inclusion and belonging. Khana holds a master's degree in elementary education from University of New Hampshire and a bachelor's degree in human development from Connecticut College. She and her husband, Michael, who is also an educator, have three children - Chauncey, Anabella, and Sonia '35.
Khana shared, "I am honored to serve the community that shaped me, and I look forward to ensuring that every Charger feels a profound sense of belonging."
