US Clubs
Last week students finished their signups for the multitude of interest and service clubs available on campus. Clubs are now meeting and plan their activities for the year. When you get a chance, ask your student which clubs they joined. Encourage them to take a leadership role within the club, even if it is to plan just a single event. Some of the best lessons that our students will receive will be during these club sessions, as they gain experience organizing events, finding supporters, or spreading awareness. Clubs allow our students to be teachers as well as learners, leaders as well as members. Whether they are learning basic investment skills, creating beautiful pieces of creative writing, or helping organize Relay For Life, students can benefit greatly from the work that is happening when classes aren’t happening. View a list of clubs, honor societies, and more here.
Civic Saturday
On Saturday, September 29, Shorecrest will host the State of Florida's inaugural Civic Saturday event. Civic Saturday is a national series of events meant to evoke community conversations around democracy, citizenship, and civic engagement. The event will run from 11:30am-12:45pm in the Janet Root Theatre at Shorecrest. Learn ways students can be better citizens. This event is free and open to the public.
