Varsity Boys Soccer Coach Jason Montoya wins his 100th game at Shorecrest Preparatory School

Shorecrest is proud to celebrate a major milestone for Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach Jason Montoya, who earned the 100th win of his coaching career with the Chargers on Friday, November 14.

Now in his ninth year leading the Shorecrest varsity program — and his 18th season coaching overall — Montoya has built a culture grounded in work ethic, adaptability, and belief in one another. Soccer has been a lifelong passion for him, rooted in family tradition and a love for sharing “the world’s game” with others.

Each year brings a new puzzle to solve, said Montoya. “Every season you have different pieces,” he said. “Figuring out how they fit together is a challenge I embrace.”

From the beginning, he has instilled two non-negotiables in the program. His players outwork their oppositions, and they play for each other. While the athletes may change from year to year, that mindset has remained constant and fueled the program’s growth.

Reaching 100 wins, Montoya says, is less about the number and more about the people behind it. “The more important number is the amount of amazing student-athletes who have represented our school and taken pride in putting on that Shorecrest jersey.”

He admires the players that have come through the program. “They work hard, they buy in, and they give everything they have. What more can I ask for?”

Congratulations to Coach Montoya on an incredible achievement and many more wins ahead!
