About our upcoming Holiday Gift Drive

SCA News Lower School News

The holiday season is approaching, and with it the Shorecrest Holiday Gift Drive benefiting Hero to a Child. For more than 30 years the Holiday Gift Drive has been our school’s signature service event, engaging students and families at every grade level, including alumni. Run entirely by Shorecrest volunteers, the drive provides holiday gifts to children served by Hero to a Child, which supports abused, abandoned, or neglected children in the Guardian ad Litem Program of Pinellas and Pasco Counties.

Thanks to your generosity, last year’s drive brought holiday joy to 240 children. This year, we aim to support more than 270 children in our community once again. We’re grateful for your continued partnership in making the season brighter for those who need it most.

The Gift Drive begins Monday, December 1. Students may bring unwrapped gifts to their classrooms starting that day. On Friday, December 12, students will deliver the hundreds of collected presents to the Athletic Center, where parent and community volunteers will sort and organize them. On Saturday, December 13, Guardian ad Litem volunteer child advocates will pick up the gifts via a drive-through on campus. Help make the holidays a little brighter for so many children!

How You Can Help

Purchase gifts: Watch for an email the week of November 17 from your class or grade-level representative with a sign-up link, labeling instructions, and how to send gifts in. Please send unwrapped gifts to school with your child December 1-12. Attach a label with the name and Child ID# of who the gift is for.

Donate cash: If shopping is tough to fit in, a monetary gift is incredibly helpful. Cash donations allow us to fill any gaps so no child is left without the gifts they want and need.

Volunteer: We have multiple volunteer shifts for sorting and organizing on Friday, December 13, and for gift pickup on Saturday, December 14. We also have shifts available November 20 and 21 to wrap the collection boxes.
