Upper School News


The Editors and staff of The Chronicle, Shorecrest’s Upper School student newspaper, received some great recognition recently. Below, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association national awards are for articles from the 2024-2025 school year. The FSPA awards run from March 2025- March 2026. Here are just some of the awards they have won:

Columbia Scholastic Press Association:

  • Natalia Davila ‘28 won 3rd place overall for her humorous commentary "The Sunshine State for Dummies"
  • Avery Lurie ‘27 and Phoebe Pritchard ‘26 won 3rd place overall for their “Clueless” Page Design

Best in SNO Award (the industry-standard School Newspaper web service):

Florida Scholastic Press Association Best Overall in the State:

  • Jill Marcus ‘27 and Diana Muzzarelli ‘27 for their feature article "When the Headlines Hit Home"
  • Diana Muzzarelli ‘27 for her front page design from February

  • Avery Lurie ‘27 and Phoebe Pritchard ‘26 for page design of "True Crime is to Die For"

Florida Scholastic Press Association All-Florida Awards (2nd highest rating in the state):

  • Christopher Lutchmedial ‘29 and Kai Engert ‘29 for Front Page Design

  • Garrison Davis ‘26 for Front Page Design
