As part of the Upper School Spanish Club's mission to broaden students’ knowledge of Latino culture, 24 students who are club members visited the “Reflections of Latin America Visual Arts Exhibition” at St. Pete First Art Collective. The gallery was exclusively open outside normal business hours for the Shorecrest students.
The show features artists from several Latin countries (Columbia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, and Mexico) who now live in the Tampa Bay area. In addition to visiting the show, the students were given a special presentation by one of the featured artist, Ms. Kim McDaniel. Ms. McDaniel talked in particular about two of her pieces: one about Simon Bolivar, and one about family separations under the new emigration laws.
