To recognize National Voters Registration Day, Shorecrest Upper School was joined by the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area (LWVSPA), a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The group was on campus to help students pre-register/register to vote on September 12. 15 students completed the process this week.
Did you know a 16-year-old who is a US Citizen can pre-register to vote? Once the student turns 18 they get their Voter ID card in the mail.
This important opportunity helped to further develop civic engagement for our students and our community.
