This past weekend, students from the Upper School SPARC Club volunteered at the Special Olympics Bowling Competition at Seminole Lanes. Each student was assigned to a lane, and everyone cheered on and supported their bowlers throughout the day. Chargers also assisted the bowlers with scorekeeping and organization.
SPARC club President Jordan Tralins '19 said, “The event had a few hundred participants, and the room was full of positive energy! The smiles were contagious, and I was so happy to see all of the volunteers so engaged with the participants. At the end of the competition, we awarded ribbons to all of the participants, and the ceremony was definitely the highlight of my day. The winner of my lane cried tears of joy and triumph when I awarded her a first place ribbon, and I was so happy to see her hard work pay off.”
It was a truly magical event, and SPARC can’t wait to volunteer again with the Special Olympics.
Earlier this year, members of SPARC volunteered at PARC, helping to create their first ever Summer Theatre Program. Read about that on the Shorecrest Blog.
