The Shorecrest Chargers Swim and Dive team had a busy August with practice starting, the Green & Gold practice meet, a service project and then, finally, our first meet!
The Green & Gold meet was a great way to start the season. The team was divided into two teams and competed against each other for season-long bragging rights. The Green Team, captained by Emery Camp ’20 and Caleb Kravitz ‘20, was victorious, but everyone had a great time getting ready for the regular season.
Earlier in the month we were able to complete a service project as a team by donating our time to the Special Olympics Region Swim meet that was held at the North Shore Aquatic Complex. Despite a lot of rain and some delays, the Chargers were instrumental in contributing to the success of the meet. A big thank you for helping out goes to: Kate R. , Rose L., Stella P., Michael L., Ellie L., Gabe B., Alex B., Spencer M., Anton H., Evan H., Shannon R., Maddox M., Caleb K., Emery C., Angela G. and Nicolas H.
The Shorecrest boys swim and dive team launched their season with a big win over Berkeley Prep. Relying almost completely on depth, the 400 Free Relay (Joseph Brockman ‘20, Michael Longino ‘20, Misha Muskepo ‘20 and Caleb Kravitz ‘20) took first place, and individually Joseph won two events (200 and 500 Free) and Caleb won one (100 Fly). Congratulations to all of the boys on a job well done!
The girls team took a loss, but did have some good early season swims. Emery Camp ‘20 (50 Free) and Sarah Lankford ‘22 (100 Free) each won one event.
Next up is a meet with Out-of-Door Academy and Canterbury on Thursday and Relay meets for both Middle Division and Varsity on Friday and Saturday. Go Chargers!
