Annabella Rozin '24 has been named a Morehead-Cain Scholar at UNC-Chapel Hill. In addition to a fully funded undergraduate scholarship to one of the nation’s foremost public research universities, as a Morehead-Cain Scholar Annabella gains access to a network of peers and mentors, challenging internships and summer experiences, and an opportunity to travel the world.
Annabella joined the Shorecrest community in 2021 and quickly established herself as a student leader. She serves as editor-in-chief of The Chronicle, the Shorecrest student newspaper, overseeing the publication process and ensuring the quality of content produced. Additionally, she serves as president of the Honor Council, where she upholds academic integrity and promotes ethical behavior among her peers. Annabella’s dedication to fostering diversity and inclusivity is evident in her role as the founder and Co-President of the Jewish Student Union, the school’s first religious and cultural group. Through this organization, Annabella provides a safe and supportive environment for Jewish students, partnering with JSU International and the Florida Holocaust Museum to promote awareness and understanding.
Beyond her academic and leadership pursuits, Annabella is an active volunteer with parkrun, a global organization promoting fitness and community engagement. She also plays on the Chargers varsity soccer team, contributing to its success as a runner-up in the FHSAA Class 2A State Championship. In her free time, Annabella enjoys pursuing creative hobbies such as knitting, reading, and woodworking. At Carolina, she is interested in studying peace, war, and defense with a concentration in security and intelligence and minors in Hispanic studies and Russian culture. With support and encouragement from the Morehead-Cain program, she has a year of world-wide travel planned before beginning her university studies.

Morehead-Cain identifies, invests in, and empowers a community of dynamic, purpose-driven leaders by providing a four-year undergraduate scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a lifelong challenge to positively impact the University, state, nation, and world. In addition to tuition, books, and room and board, Morehead-Cain offers students in the Program four summers of travel and experiential learning, access to a network of more than 3,300 alumni, and the opportunity to identify and pursue their aspirations.

We look forward to the impact they will make at Carolina and beyond.”
Since its founding in 1945, the Morehead-Cain Program has been a model for countless merit scholarships throughout the United States. These include the University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholars Program, Duke University’s Benjamin N. Duke Scholars Program, and Emory University’s Woodruff Scholars Program.
