Students Receive College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarships to UF

Shorecrest is pleased to announce that three Class of 2026 graduates have received college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships to the University of Florida - congratulations to Kate Carlan '26, Charlie Cowan '26 and Hayden Hawkins '26.
The students were selected in recognition of excellence in academics, leadership, and extracurricular involvement, as well as strong potential for success in rigorous college studies at the State's flagship university.
This year 138 higher education institutions are underwriting Merit Scholarship awards through the National Merit Scholarship Program.These awards provide $500 - $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. An additional group of Scholars will be announced in July, bringing the total number of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2026 competition to approximately 3,500.
