Upper School French Exchange Program

Upper School News

French high school students from Lycée Bayen in the champagne region of France arrived on campus Wednesday morning for a two-week stay, as part of an international exchange that is now in its 23rd year. Through this program, Shorecrest students and their French counterparts enjoy an immersive language experience, exposure to multiple perspectives, and an enhanced interest in global issues. Further, exchanges provide an opportunity to develop analytical and problem solving skills, to grow in maturity and social poise, and to enhance self-confidence and self-esteem, fuelled by the necessity to confront challenges outside a familiar comfort zone. Perhaps best of all, students form lifelong friendships.

Lycée Bayen were welcomed on their first day at Shorecrest by Headmaster Mike Murphy, Assistant Headmaster and Head of Upper School Tom Dillow, and French teachers Jackie Carnes and Sidy Ndiaye. After attending first period classes with their Charger hosts, the French students observed alligators and other local wildlife at Sawgrass Lake Park.

The French students will be on campus until February 27. Upper School Shorecrest students are visiting France from March 8-17.

Thank you to our Shorecrest families who are hosting these students and giving them an amazing, memorable adventure of a lifetime! Check back in Ebytes in two weeks to learn about the French students' experience exploring American and Florida culture.
