Ada Mollo '27 Selected for MFA's Teen Art Council
For Ada Mollo '27 art has always been more than a hobby. It’s a passion that fuels her creativity and inspires her future goals. This year she is bringing that dedication beyond Shorecrest’s campus and into the wider community. Ada is one of seven teens from the Tampa Bay Area selected by the Museum of Fine Arts to serve on its newly formed Teen Art Council.
In addition to joining the council, Ada will receive a $500 scholarship and work directly with the museum’s Education Department to develop teen-focused programming. The group’s efforts will culminate in a signature “Teen Night” at the museum later this year, an event designed to connect more young people with the arts.
“Our mission is to get teens involved in the museum world,” Ada said. “I do that by planning events and being active in the museum community."
For Ada, this experience aligns perfectly with her career aspirations. “I love museums. I would love to end up working at a museum, whether that looks like curation or as an archivist. I feel like it’s a great way to get involved in the community,” she said.
Already, she has started collaborating with the museum to design engaging opportunities for teens. A recent coffee shop meet-up at Black Crow brought teens together to connect. It is a taste of the larger projects to come. “It’s a really awesome place to get to know people who actually work in a museum, to get to know how museums work, how events get planned,” she shared.
Beyond being involved on this council, Ada continues to pursue her own art. “I really enjoy painting and I love working with oils,” she said. “I’m looking forward to taking AP Art my senior year. The two really mix well.”
